How to register a death
You can register a death at the British High Commission. Consular death registration is not a legal requirement but there are some benefits:
- an entry will be made in the death register by the British High Commission
- you will be provided with a British sytle death certificate
- a record of the death will be held by the General Register Office in the UK
To assist us with a straight-forward process, we request that you produce original supporting documentation as stated below:
- a completed Death Registration Form
- local death certificate
- British passport
- fee payable
PLEASE NOTE THAT PHOTOCOPIES OR ABBRIEVATED CERTIFICATES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. APPLICATIONS CONTAINING PHOTOCOPIED OR ABBREVIATED CERTIFICATES WILL BE REFUSED AND RETURNED AT THE APPLICANT’S EXPENSE.
